Business Suite 7 mainstream maintenance milestone
Optional Extended Maintenance for eligible releases
Customer-Specific Maintenance and other transition/support paths
Four signals now shape every credible SAP 2026–2030 decision.
Mainstream maintenance remains through the end of 2027 for relevant Business Suite 7 core applications, followed by optional Extended Maintenance through 2030 for eligible releases.
SAP's July 2026 commitments affect maintenance, support-provider and Commercial Installation choices. The appropriate structure depends on the customer's landscape, contract and Commercial Installation boundaries.
Commercial Terms: Flexible licensing models and cloud credit alignment options available for RISE/GROW subscribers.
SAP says ECC and S/4HANA on-premise customers that commit to transitioning the majority of their current landscape to SAP Cloud ERP can gain access to selected AI scenarios during the journey.
Will today's ECC AI become tomorrow's S/4HANA technical debt?
Clean Core, ATC, custom code, BTP, data, AI and ERP modernization should be treated as one coordinated roadmap.

Integrated Business Planning cloud platform for end-to-end supply chain optimization.
Accelerate S/4HANA or Cloud ERP where business, lifecycle and architecture justify it.
→Modernize selectively, clean the core and build capabilities that can move with the ERP.
→Review maintenance footprint, Commercial Installations and contract specific options.
→Introduce governed AI where it generates measurable value without hard-wiring AI into ECC technical debt.
→“The objective is not to defend ECC or force S/4HANA. It is to make the next investment portable, governed and commercially defensible.”
Your SAP strategy should start with your landscape — not somebody else's sales target.
Create governed AI value today while keeping intelligence sufficiently decoupled and portable for tomorrow's S/4HANA architecture.
A pragmatic four-stage engagement turns fragmented facts into one executable recommendation.
A roadmap has value only if it can be executed. VEGAH can remain with the journey from current-state discovery through remediation, modernization, migration and steady-state operations.

The standard Business Suite 7 maintenance timeline did not move. Mainstream maintenance concludes Dec 31, 2027, with extended maintenance through Dec 2030. A separate transition option may be available to a limited set of complex customers under defined commercial and technical conditions; it is not a blanket ECC extension.
In selected scenarios, qualifying ECC and S/4HANA on-premise customers progressing toward SAP Cloud ERP can introduce AI during transition. Architecture, authorization, data governance and portability still require deliberate design via SAP BTP.
No. They expand certain choices; they do not determine the best choice. Lifecycle exposure, business value, technical debt, contracts and transformation readiness must be assessed together.
No. It may fit some landscapes, but the comparison must include innovation needs, security, regulatory obligations, upgrade plans, Commercial Installation boundaries and total transition cost.
No. Usage, business value, standard replacement, clean-core fit and retirement potential should be evaluated first. Code that no longer earns its complexity should not be carried forward.
A governed architecture that creates AI value around ECC through clean interfaces and BTP services while keeping intelligence sufficiently decoupled for a future S/4HANA target state.
